About Thomas Herzog
Thomas Herzog discovers photography in the mid -80’s. He invests his savings in a Canon, and with it takes his first photographic steps.
Taking courses at vocational high schools, he learns the technical and scientific aspects of photography, and experience is gained “as he goes”.
The classic progression of an autodidact…
1987 Herzog brings his first success when he wins a high-end Canon EOS camera in a photo contest by chocolate manufacturer Sarotti. In the years that follow, the photographer falls into a big creative hole and does not emerge from it until 2003.
The passion for photography is rekindled, when incorporating digital imaging into his art work; it just takes one year for Herzog’s second success in his artistic career to occur.
The potential and talent of the hobby photographer is evident when his entry places 8th out of 9000 in an Agfa photo contest. It doesn’t take long for additional successes to follow.
In 2004, Thomas Herzog wins 1st price out of 8000 entries in the section “Nature” in the prestigious Lumix Award, held by National Geographic and Panasonic.
A local newspaper (Badische Neueste Nachrichten…) quotes the jury:” The picture reflects a poetic mood and appears almost as if it is a painting.”
Thus given wings, Herzog places photos in picture books and calendars, and wins more awards in different photo contests.
His biggest success to date is booked by Herzog in 2009 with first place of nearly 15 000 entries in the international nature photo contest “Glanzlichter” (Highlights).
His work sells in online agencies such as Fine Art Print and other platforms.
Thomas Herzog now wants to initiate a different venue towards common viewpoints with like-minded diverse artists, clients and investors.

Thomas Herzog kommt Mitte der 80er zur Fotografie. Seine Ersparnisse investiert er in eine Ausrüstung der Marke CANON, mit dieser macht er seine ersten fotografischen Gehversuche. Das Wissen rund um die Fotografie eignet Herzog sich in Volkshochschulkursen an, die Erfahrung kommt per "learning by doing".
Der klassische Werdegang eines Autodidakten . . .
Seinen ersten Erfolg hat Herzog im Jahre 1987, als er bei einem Fotowettbewerb des Schokoladenherstellers SAROTTI eine hochwertige CANON EOS-Spiegelreflexkamera gewinnt. In den darauf folgenden Jahren fällt der Fotograf für lange Zeit ins kreative Loch, dieser Zustand währt bis ins Jahr 2003.
Mit dem Einzug der Digitalfotografie erwacht die Liebe zur Fotografie erneut und es dauert gerade mal 1 Jahr bis zum zweiten Erfolg in Herzogs fotografischer Laufbahn. Ein 8. Platz unter 9000 Einsendungen im Agfa-Wettbewerb zeugt vom Potential des Hobbyfotografen. Doch weitere Erfolgserlebnisse lassen nicht lange auf sich warten.
Thomas Herzog erzielt 2004 mit einer Landschaftsaufnahme unter 8000 Einsendungen den 1. Platz in der Sektion Landschaften im heute noch stattfindenden LUMIX-AWARD, ausgelobt von National Geographic und PANASONIC.
